Cornwall eclipses the rest of the UK

On 12th August 2026 there will be a partial eclipse over the UK, and arguably, the best place to view it from is in Cornwall!
If the skies stay clear, we'll be treated to an incredible sight as around 95–96% of the Sun is obscured by the Moon.
Taking place low in the western sky just before sunset, this will be the best eclipse since 1999. If you're lucky enough to be staying at our cottage at 55 Fathoms in Pendra Loweth you'll be able to venture out to witness this rare event at some spectacular locations.
For the best views, head somewhere with an uninterrupted western horizon. Some fantastic locations include: Watergate Bay, Perranporth, Mawgan Porth, Crantock, Sennen and Marazion.
Or, for an even more dramatic backdrop, watch from one of Cornwall's iconic headlands such as Land's End, Cape Cornwall or the Lizard.
If you're staying at 55 Fathoms, this is the perfect excuse to spend an evening exploring Cornwall's stunning coastline before enjoying one of nature's most unforgettable displays.
Remember: Never look directly at the Sun without certified solar eclipse glasses or other safe viewing equipment.
